Under the stars

I headed out tonight into the Arkansas wilderness with a mission to put my new Fuji X-Pro1 through the paces of night photography. I have really been wanting to see how it performed on long exposures. The weather wasn’t really what I had hoped it would be. There were a lot of dark clouds, and the near full moon was hidden under a blanket of them. It wasn’t until I gave up and headed for home, that the clouds started to give way a bit. The closer I got to home, the more I started seeing stars break through the dissipating clouds. I realized quickly that maybe I’d given up too soon. I thought of turning around, but I found this little barn just off the highway. It was still a bit too cloudy for star trails, but I did manage to get several shorter exposures that I thought turned out pretty good. This one was my favorite.

Round up your little ones and join me Saturday May 5th, for the sixth Annual Touch-a-Truck event in Rogers Arkansas. I’ll be here with Peekaboo Magazine, lending a hand to photograph the many smiles of happy families as they enjoy the day.
This is a unique, interactive, one-day event that allows children to climb on, explore and discover their favorite big trucks and vehicles. Kids can also meet the workforce that protects, serves and builds the Northwest Arkansas community.
Proceeds from the event assist the Junior League of Northwest Arkansas with its mission of promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women, and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.
More information can be found on the Junior League of Northwest Arkansas’ website.

We had huge turnout at RazorFest, unofficial numbers were close to 50,000. I had a wonderful time, and between RazorFest and the Red & White game I took almost 1,200 photos.
I am so happy for the opportunity to volunteer my time for the Champions for Kids’ program. It’s such a great organization and they support a very needed and great cause.
“Champions for Kids works to mobilize MILLIONS of people by providing training and resources to improve the lives of children in communities across America and beyond.”
Below are a few highlights from the event.
